Dressing Closets

When we remodel our house a few years ago the plan called for three built in closets.  One in the back side foyer, one in the guest bath and one in my dressing area.  Considering the project was running a full year behind schedule and costs about three times as much as planned, we were forced to cut out a few things to get the damn thing finished and move back in.  So my built-ins were sided-lined for another time.    Currently chest of drawers and old wardrobe fill the spaces waiting for my build-ins to appear.  Sadly, I don’t believe they will materialize anytime soon.  However, a boy can still wish…here are some ideas…

OK, these last two images aren't technically 'dresssing closets' but I included them because I like the idea of plain white doors, but with detail added by painting on an architectural design.

  1. You just gave me an idea. My few closets are wide but very shallow making it difficult to see things at both ends. I could widen the openings and put double mirrored doors on them.

    Thanks for your help!

  2. Love the idea of a dressing room. Just last night as I was on my hands and knees reaching back into my closet trying to find a missing shoe - ugh! The closet w/the lines painted on has given me some inspiration too.

  3. unlike the previous commenters, i can only dream, there is no inspiration that can alter "this old house" and it's miniature slots referred to as closets. i wish you a speedy dressing room

  4. I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I've managed to not find your wonderful blog - until now. Just spent the last half hour (while at work, mind you) looking thru the archives and I know I'll spend the next few days going back for more! So glad I (finally) found you!

  5. A wonderful alternative screen, rack can be separated at any spot in the area and close the screen. In this case, you can hold the aesthetics of the interior.
