Skins

I’m looking for an animal hide rug for my living room.  I like them best when they’re placed over large sisals.  I haven’t found one with the right colors yet.  Well, that’s not true. I have seen quite a few that would do nicely, but I haven’t had the right amount of cash in my pocket.  I want a white and palomino version.  No Zebra.  But, it appears I'm wrong about that.  Every pic I find is Zebra.  That’s just not right and I don’t want PETA harassing me.  But, I would do cowhide and feel just fine about it.

  1. I would like to have one too, but I want a faux rug. I just don't want the real thing. I think they make a great bold statement.

  2. great minds and all...! I found mine at Ikea! I also have an all white one in the master bath. It's funny people always walk into the living room and ask what kind of animal the rug is! Guess the coloring doesn't "read" cow!
The wall color is Benjamin Moore's Ashwood.
I'm with you on the zebra- love it, but couldn't do a real one.

it was affordable (under 300) and can take a beating (cat pee and poop, kid spillsetc..) do it!

  4. Eeek (pulls head under covers) *MUFFLED* I have a real zebra! EVERYONE GASP! I know, I know! But if it's any consolation, it's gotta be over 60 years old, so well before I was even born, hell, before my mother was born ... so I didn't have any hand in taking poor zeb's life ... I simply am helping to carry out his legacy. I also have a cowhide, really pretty, a nice sorta beigy color - not the holstein black and white or stamped version. I scored it on Craigslist in Toronto, but had to carry it back to the car in a black trashbag because the guy didn't have anything else - and I didn't think to bring anything. Would've been fine if we hadn't parked 2-miles away, and I had to walk through the middle of the city with thousands of people around thinking I had stuffed 20 kittens in a black hefty bag. Yes, it was embarrassing! MORE so than having a zebra rug! LOL!
